Shop Local at Farmers Markets in Dallas

fruits and vegetables at a farmers market

Summer is almost here, and that means it’s a great time to explore the Dallas community and get to know your local farmers. Farmers markets are a great place to enjoy a weekend afternoon with your friends and family, and by shopping here you can eat healthy, locally grown food while directly supporting the people who produce it.

Dallas has a wide variety of farmers markets, but here are a few that are located less than a 20 minute drive from our apartments at Radius at Turtle Creek.

Dallas Farmers Market

Started in 1941, The Dallas Farmers Market offers two different shopping experiences. The first is a permanent market open seven days a week. Inside there are artisanal food vendors and restaurants so you can enjoy a bite to eat. The second is an open-air market open weekends and some weekdays, depending on the season. At the weekend farmers market you can find a large variety of locally grown produce, pasture-raised meats, specialty food products, crafts, and much more.

Farmers Branch Farmers Market

The Farmers Branch Market is located at the Grove at Mustang Crossing, right off I-35. They are open Saturday evenings from May 4th – September 28th. At this cozy market you can buy the usual locally grown produce and meats. You can also discover a variety of craft vendors, such as handcrafted wood cutting boards by Ranch Hand Originals and unique handmade jewelry by Flutterbeads Boutique. Stop by this summer and you may also catch a live concert by local artists!

Saint Michael’s Farmers Market

The Saint Michael’s Farmers Market is open Saturday mornings 8 a.m. -12 p.m. until September 28th. This market heavily focuses on promoting locally produced food by requiring that all products come from within 150 miles of Dallas County. In addition to the staple market products, you can also find some special treats, including locally made kombucha (fermented tea) from Brew Skies Over Texas and freshly baked sweets from Toby Foods. Check out this market and shop local!
